"To Perpetuate and Promote Oldtime Fiddling and Oldtime Music"
Hoedowner Archive
The Oregon Old Time Fiddlers Association has produced a monthly newsletter called the Hoedowner since
1967. Below is a complete archive of past Hoedowner issues. As you can see, they are in order from the
most recent to the oldest. A few of the issues were converted from word processer files, so are searchable
electronically. The majority, however, are scanned images of the paper copies and are only searchable by eye.
Click on the month of the year that interests you and a PDF file will be displayed for you to read. If you wish,
you can right click on a link and use the "Save As" choice on the resulting menu to download the issue to your
computer to read later.
OOTFA also has produced a monthly newsletter called the Hoedowner Junior since May of 2007. As the name
suggests, it is directed toward younger fiddlers, but it also includes tips and tunes for beginning fiddlers of
any age. Starting in August of 2010, the Hoedowner JR has been combined with the Hoedowner. A
complete archive of the issues through July 2010 appears below the Hoedowner archive.
The Hoedowner has also included a feature called the "Tune of the Month,"for its readers to learn. Click
on this link, Tunes of the Month to see a list of these
tunes. You may wish to use this list to avoid duplications if you are going to suggest a "tune of the month" for
the state or for your district.
