Welcome to District 1, home to the oldtime fiddlers of the Klamath Basin! Nestled in south-central Oregon where the Cascade Range meets the high desert, our district draws musicians from Klamath Falls and the surrounding communities.
About Our District
Klamath Falls sits at the southern tip of Upper Klamath Lake, surrounded by stunning mountain scenery and wide-open rangeland. It’s cattle country, timber country, and — thanks to District 1 — fiddle country. Our members carry on a proud tradition of oldtime music that stretches back generations in this part of Oregon.
District 1 is known for its welcoming spirit. Whether you’ve been playing for fifty years or just picked up a fiddle last month, you’ll find a friendly circle of musicians happy to share a tune. Our weekly Wednesday jams are the heartbeat of the district — a chance to play together, learn new tunes, and keep the oldtime tradition alive in the Klamath Basin.
History
The Klamath Falls area has deep roots in Western and frontier music. Many of our tunes reflect the ranching and logging heritage of southern Oregon. District 1 members regularly perform at community events, bringing the joy of live oldtime music to nursing homes, senior centers, and local celebrations throughout Klamath County.
