Welcome to District 5, home to the oldtime fiddlers of Oregon’s spectacular Southern Coast! Our district stretches along the Pacific from the Coos Bay area down through Bandon, Gold Beach, and Brookings, encompassing Coos and Curry Counties.
About Our District
The Southern Oregon Coast is one of the most dramatic stretches of shoreline in America. Towering sea stacks, windswept headlands, quiet fishing villages, and the mighty Pacific Ocean provide the backdrop for our music. District 5 draws musicians from Coos Bay, North Bend, Bandon, Gold Beach, Brookings, and the many small communities tucked into the coastal valleys.
Life on the coast has its own rhythm — shaped by the tides, the weather, and the close-knit communities that have thrived here for generations. Our oldtime music fits right into that rhythm. When District 5 members gather for a jam, you can practically hear the ocean in the fiddle tunes.
What Makes Us Special
Coastal communities have always valued music as a way to bring people together, and District 5 carries on that tradition with enthusiasm. Our members are a dedicated group who don’t let a little rain (or a lot of rain!) keep them from making music. We perform at festivals, community events, and senior centers up and down the Southern Coast.
The Southern Oregon Coast has a rich heritage of logging, fishing, and farming, and many of our tunes reflect that working heritage. If you’re visiting the coast — maybe exploring the Oregon Dunes, Shore Acres State Park, or the wild Curry County coastline — check our schedule. We’d love to share some tunes with you.
